Road Trip to Oregon Part 5: The trip home

Day 20

The day we had long been dreading had finally arrived. Time to head home. :(

We took our time packing & heading out in the morning. We didn't get to Boise until after 1pm. We stuck with our original plan to get to Ely, NV the first night. It was a long day. We got in around 10pm & went straight to bed. Everyone was pretty cranky.

Day 21

After a quick continental breakfast in our room, we took off. We were on the road by 8:30am. Andy & I decided to try to make it all the way home, because sleeping in our own beds is SO MUCH MORE comfortable than cramming all six of us into a hotel room. Unfortunately, once we put our final destination into our GPS it calculated the remaining drive time as a grueling 12 hours & 45 min to home. So that was a little deflating.

We pushed hard & rarely stopped. We made it to Vegas by lunch. From there we only stopped 1 or 2 more times until we were home. We ate late on the south side of Phoenix, and got home at 9:30pm. We were thrilled to be back in our space & so happy to be out of the car. The cat did not know what to think. He meowed himself horse that evening. And the kids were so wound up that we weren't able to go to sleep until after midnight. But once asleep we all slept like rocks.

Road Trip to Oregon Part 4: Baker City 2

Day 19

Today we went fishing at Wolf Creek Reservoir. June & Roxy caught their first fish with Joe & Andy's help. It was a lot of fun!

After fishing we went to North Powder to meet Joe's kitties & get some ice cream. June was in heaven! ;)

Road Trip to Oregon Part 4: Baker City 1

Day 17

Today we spent the morning packing up, bought a couple of housewarming/thank you gifts for Jason & Sarah, and then headed to Baker City. We stopped for a late lunch in La Grande and got to Baker City around 3pm.

Day 18

We spent the first day and a half in Baker City relaxing and visiting all of the building sites. We continue to admire the changes going on within Andy's parents home & were impressed by the new shop & cellars as well.

And we are certain that Joe's house will be amazing once it is completed! We were lucky enough to see the sub-flooring go in & the first wall go up during the framing process.

The kids spent each evening playing outside in the grass, chasing chickens, and picking apples to put in the water trough. They were well entertained!
