Lincoln

Life is so exciting here at the Blatchford Casa. With the end of the Ketogenic diet, a lot of things are changing. We are able to eat as a family now that we all eat the same foods. We are working on teaching Lincoln to feed himself, and drink out of an open cup. He really seems quite proud of himself when he is able to do these things.

This video is of Lincoln's first non-Ketogenic meal in almost 2 years!

What a (snow) day!

First it started off with a dentist appointment for my three big kids. Lincoln still has his 2 cavities to be filled & 1 crown needing to be done. We have an appointment in June to get those taken care of. Luckily June & Roxy's teeth both look good still.

Then we headed off to Lincoln's kindergarten transition meeting to set up his new IEP goals. On the way it started to snow, which was quite exciting! It was still pretty warm outside, so I didn't expect it to last long. We played in the snow a little bit on the way through the parking lot at his school. It was a long 2 hour meeting, but I think we got everything squared away. Lots of good goals set up & his placement will most likely be a self-contained classroom with a high teacher to student ratio in his current grade school, which is exactly what I wanted. So yay! On our way home we noticed that almost all of the snow was melted, so I figured that that was the end of it.

However, during nap time it started to snow again. And by around 5pm it was beginning to accumulate. So I got the big kids somewhat bundled up & let them head outside to play. They had some fun for sure!

June felt the snow & said "Cold!" and then tasted & spit it out. Lol. Then at the end she insists that I put her glove back on, saying "On, on!"

Lincoln knew just what to do without any coaxing at all.

In this one Roxy was upset that the snow was getting on the chair. Lol.

Roxy being adorable. ;)

It's Been Two Weeks

It has been two weeks since we took Lincoln off of his Ketogenic diet. He is doing awesome!!!!!!!!!!

Our biggest fear was that we would see a big increase in the number of daytime seizures. But, so far, we have seen only one seizure during the day time. It was not entirely unusual to see an occasional daytime seizure while he was on the diet either. He also continues to have night time seizures (as he did while still on the diet).

Our second biggest fear was that he would stop eating again & begin to lose weight. So far we have seen no indication that he is avoiding any foods we have fed him. In fact, he seems to love to eat now! :)

I have hesitated to post anything here, or talk about it much to our friends/family, because I have been worried that we would be back on the diet within days. But, like I said, it has now been two weeks. We all couldn't be happier with how things have gone. It is amazing, and so so fun, to watch him eat all the things he had been denied before. Fingers (as always) are crossed that things continue to go well. :)

As an aside, he is also now taking his medication whole, by mouth, without too much effort on our parts or crying on his! Yay!! We are so proud of our little man!

12. You will want to throw the baby monitor out the window.
13. You won't have the desire or the time to iron the crib skirt after you first wash it. And the wrinkles will drive you crazy. But not crazy enough to dismantle the crib and iron it.

27. You will wonder if you could possibly love another child as much as you love this one.
28. You will put your sweet pea in the ugliest outfit he's got, take an obligatory photo, and send it to the distant relative who purchased the fashion disaster.
29. You will rejoice when the baby's bald spot finally fills in. Now if only there were something to do about her mullet.
30.You will call your new-mom friend to say that your baby has a runny nose and has sneezed twice, and that if she wants to reschedule your play date, you'll understand.

5 Months Old!

Our youngest princess, Miss Cora-belle is now 5 months old! I am amazed at how the time has flown & how much she has changed over these first few months. She barely resembles the newborn she once was. She is active & happy & just plain wonderful! She is continuing to grow, even though she remains the little peanut of the group, we are now phasing into the 6 month sized clothing. As always it is sad to pack away the smaller clothing, knowing you might never see another little body filling them. :(

Cora is so curious about everything going on around her. She pushes herself so hard to stay awake & watch & learn as much as she can. She often ends the day in an overtired state & goes on a feeding spree once her siblings are finally down for the day. She has a hard time focusing on eating and trouble staying asleep for naps throughout the day. I am hoping that once we move her to her own room she will be able to rest much more easily (both at night & during the daytime). She is disturbed by Andy & I moving & talking at night & the alarms getting us up in the morning. And during the day her sisters cannot seem to leave her alone in our bedroom (and I can't close the door because then the cat freaks out). We will be moving her to the nursery next weekend (this move also comes with June moving to a big girl bed!). I will miss having Cora in our room at night though. She is my little buddy.

Cora is loving that jumpy horse & has excellent strength & head control. Just this week I started giving her tummy time again (after about a 6 week break), and she learned to roll over both directions the first day. She is showing tons of interest in toys and grabbing & mouthing anything she can. All of it so very typical & wonderful of this age.

Here are some pictures & video of Cora from the last month.

Little Mover

Not only has Cora learned to roll with very little time on her tummy, and can now easily maneuver herself into any position she wants within a 3 ft radius. But I was really impressed by her today. I have never seen a 4 month old work this hard at trying to get somewhere. I wonder if she will be my earliest crawler?

A Perennial Favorite

The Bouncy Horse has always been a huge hit with my kiddos from about 4-7 months old. Cora is no exception. :)
