1 week down...

Week one of single motherhood of a newly-walking-special-needs-two-year old, a princess-of-a-five-month old, and a surprise pregnancy down...one and a half more weeks to go. Sigh.

Lincoln update: His cardiology appt was good. I had to do some baby-juggling and soothing as usual. June doesn't like being ignored in the stroller, Lincoln would much rather be the one being ignored in the stroller. This is great when the appointment is June's, but unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), most of them are not hers. At some point this week I have to take Lincoln in to get his blood drawn. I am not looking forward to juggling during that visit!

We took Lincoln off of one of his seizure meds for the first time since he started them in January, because we weren't sure t waqs really doing anything. We noticed some interesting effects that have since proven that this med actually does help him. #1 He stopped sleeping through the night. Almost every night he would wake up and spend 1.5-2 hours awake in his room playing. #2 Three weeks after going off of this med...he started having his foot seizure again. This is the seizure that robbed him of his ankle/leg stability around 1yo, and delayed his gross motor development for almost a year. We gained control of this seizure in early April after starting Lamictal. Little did we know that it was actually the combination of the Lamictal and Banzel that were giving us control. I started him back on the Banzel the first day I saw the foot seizure. So far I have only noticed it one other time since then (it has been 3 days so far). I am hoping that we will regain control of this seizure before it does any serious damage to any of the skills he has picked up since April...including his walking.

June Update: As I said June is a little princess. She has recently started refusing her bottle. The only time she will drink from it is if she is really really sleepy. Unfortunately this has caused her to start waking more often at night to keep up her intake...and I have also noticed a marked slow in her weight gain. She only gained 1lb from 4-5 months, and has only gained 5oz in the 2 weeks following that. I have started to feed her high fat yogurt mixed with oatmeal and increasing the calorie content of her formula to combat her finicky behavior. My thought is that she is going through a phase where she is so so interested in everything going on around her that she doesn't want to take the time to eat...and if I do happen to get her to settle enough for a bottle she will only drink a few ounces before the squirming & fussing starts. I am planning on asking the pedi for some advice on this at her 6mo check-up in case this is something more like silent reflux or allergies instead of a behavior issue.

Baby Surprise Update: As you all know, we saw a heartbeat last Monday. Since then I have had 3 days of light bleeding (Fri-Sun) which has made me pretty nervous about the status of baby #3. I had some sort of bleeding with both Lincoln and June at different points during their pregnancies...I am hoping that this scare with baby #3 will amount to nothing substantial. I figure if it gets too bad, I will call my OB and head in for another check-up. Until then, I will be assuming the best...

Mommy Update: I am tired. I am bored. I wish fall would get here, so we could go outside without baking. One thing that has been nice is that I have been putting the kids down for bed around 8pm every night since Andy left. This is the first hint of an actual working schedule that we have ever had in this household since kids have been introduced. Even though they don't always go to sleep right away, they are in bed, and I am hoping that even once Andy returns, we can keep this schedule going. It is so nice to have a few hours of my own after they are in bed. I haven't had anything like that for the past several years!!!

Heart looks good.

Lincoln's EKG looked perfect today! Lincoln's Cardiologist wants to see him one more time just after he turns three...then if everything still looks good, we will be released to be seen on an as needed basis only! Yay!

He told me a little bit more about the Holter monitor studies that we did 6mo and 12mo ago. The one done in August last year showed 9,000 PVCs. The doctor said that most people only have about 1 per hour...which would only be 24 total in a day. Lincoln was having about 6 per minute during that 24 hour study. Yikes! I had no idea!! But his follow up study in February showed zero PVCs during that 24 hour study. So whatever the seizure meds were doing to him in August last year...apparently his body adjusted to it by February, thank goodness!

Everything looks great so far! Baby was there measuring 6wks 5days (one day behind my estimate), and had a nice heartbeat. Perfect for this stage of the game!

5 months old!

June is 5 months old today. She is 25 3/4 inches tall and weighs 16lbs 1oz. Lincoln was already 22 lbs at this age, so June is definitely growing at a more reasonable pace.

It is hard to believe how fast these months have gone. June is such a good girl and is so so sweet. She smiles and laughs and chats up a storm. She rolls and pushes up on her arms. She reaches for toys and puts them in her mouth. She eats about 1 package of stage 1 fruits or veggies per day (2 meals - 1/2 at each meal). She still has several 4oz bottle of formula during the day, and still wakes 2 times to eat at night as well. Usually she wakes somewhere between 12-2 and then again between 4-6.

What my kids are up to...

June is getting stronger and stronger, and more and more active. She has been loving the bouncy horse, tummy-time, swing, and chewing on everything in sight. :)

Lincoln is also getting stronger and more and more sure of his walking skills. He still falls a lot, but he is brave and loves exploring this whole new world on his feet.

In honor of baby week...

I decided to come clean, and show you some shirts I recently bought Lincoln & June.

Get it? :)

I found out about a week ago that we are expecting baby #3.

We are thrilled, terrified, and of course, based on our history, a little hesitant to make any long term plans involving another baby this spring. So far things are going well, and we really hope that they continue that way. My first doctor appointment is August 23rd. We will be hoping to see a healthy little baby with a strong heartbeat. And could use all of your good thoughts, wishes, prayers, etc. that this pregnancy is a healthy & happy one!

My due date at this point is estimated to be April 12, 2011. Also, we will not be finding out the sex until delivery, and we will not be sharing our name choices until then either, just to spice things up a bit! We figure, if there is ever a time to not find out, it would be for baby #3, since we already have one of each, and all the pink & blue stuff already squared away.

We will entertain name suggestions and guesses along the way if you want to play.

Goodbye July, Welcome August.

Well our wonderful July is now over. :(

It was a big month in our house.
1) We went on our first road trip and family vacation as a family of four.
2) I lost about 10 lbs during the month. I am now only 7lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight.
3) Lincoln turned 2 years old!
4) It was our 7th Anniversary.
5) And the biggest one LINCOLN STARTED WALKING!
6) Also, we found out I am pregnant with baby #3!

Hopefully August will be an exciting month as well.
1) We know of 5 babies that are due to be born during the month of August. We are anxiously awaiting their safe arrivals into the world!
2) Also, Andy will be going to Australia, so that will be exciting and cause quite the upheaveal here at home.
3) Lincoln will be having his Neuro appt. Which is always a mixture of excitment and dread.
4) Lincoln has a Cardiologist appt, and will hopefully be released to yearly visits after a good check-up.
5) June is on the verge of huge developmental strides...sitting, scooting, etc.
6) First OB appointment for baby #3!

Goodbye July, we will miss you... Welcome August, be good to us! :)
