Seven Stitches

The kids, Andy & I were up at the house trying to install the door frame trim pieces. The fit wasn't quite right on the first attempt, so we started to lower the frame back down to the ground. As we were lowering Andy's side got caught up so he couldn't lower it as fast as I was, this ended up twisting the whole thing and the wood on the pieces above our head snapped & the whole upper section fell to the ground. Luckily for us it didn't land on our heads or our children & Andy was struck in the back of his calves but wasn't injured. Unluckily for me, it did catch the back of one of my ankles, resulting in a gooey laceration (as the ER triage nurse proclaimed it). We spent 2.5 hours in the ER during the Superbowl getting it cleaned & stitched back together. I have to have it checked for infection tomorrow night & then go back in 12 days to get the stitches removed. Joy! In the meantime I am supposed to stay off of my feet (or at least not bend my ankle) as much as possible to keep the stitches from pulling through. So I hobble around to house with a peg-leg chasing children -- who are suddenly much faster than I am. They are loving it. Me, not so much! ;)

Pictures below. It isn't that bad, but don't look if you are squeamish about blood or gore!

10 months old

Roxy is TEN months old now! She is cruising like a pro & getting braver about taking bigger steps, twisting, turning & reaching while standing. She doesn't fall often and seems pretty confident on her feet. We will see how much longer it is to her first steps. A month or so is my guess.

She is still such an angel. She is always sweet & she is silly too. She is scared of the giant therapy ball that we have...I think she thinks it is gonna bull dose her. (June was also terrified of balls at that age). It is so funny to watch Roxy crawl away as fast as she can. She goes about 5-10 feet and then peeks over her shoulder to make sure it isn't still chasing her. Her expressions makes me laugh every time.

She babbles to herself constantly, she is good at the classics "mama", "dada", "baba", "yaya", and just yelling "ahhhhh"! It is fun to hear her go. Sometimes it sounds like she is lecturing her older siblings. June loves to imitate Roxy, so our household can get pretty noisy when both girls are going. Makes us laugh!

She is a great eater & a great night time sleeper. Her daytime sleep is a little rough still. She is down to pretty much 1 or 2 naps a day. One in the morning - 10ish and one in the late afternoon - 4ish. If she misses her morning nap, then she usually naps with Lincoln & June around 1:30pm. I like it when all the kiddos nap at once because I get a little time to get stuff done, relax, or even take a nap sometimes! Both Lincoln & June skip naps often these days, so it is only a matter of time until they might completely drop their nap.

Potty Update...

Well. June goes when she wants to go. She does very well if she doesn't have any pants, undies, or diapers on. If she does, it is hit or miss. Pooping is also hit or miss...literally. ;) We are taking it slow & easy & letting her lead the way almost entirely. She likes going potty on the toilet, but does not seem to want to poop on the toilet, so that she does it at all is pretty amazing. She really wants to be all grown up like mommy & daddy & is thrilled when she is successful!

Here is the state of June most days. ;)

I find it almost impossible to keep pants of any sort on her at home, which thankfully isn't as bad now that she is mostly successful on the potty. Go June!
