Monsoon

The monsoon season is continuing full force. It has been thunderstorming heavily everyday for the past week, and we are LOVING it!

Storm on 9/10

Storm on 9/16

We even lost power for 2 hours after dark on Tuesday! We got to break out the candles and the flashlights. During the power outage the kiddos did great after a bit of uncertainty in the beginning. June is terrified of the thunder and insists on hugs everytime she hears it. During the height of the storms she pretty much is attached to my legs wherever I go. We try to turn it into a game by saying "Boom" "Boom" loud and deep, which she thinks is funny, but it only works sometimes.

The temperatures have dropped from low 100's to low 90's, and it has been a welcome relief. I even got to take the kids to the park on Monday! It was great!! June got to rediscover her love of swings and puddles! ;)

The Loss of a Loved One

Andy's Grandma Ruth passed away on Sept 12, 2011. She had a long and full life. She was a wonderful lady, always with a ready smile and a warm hug. I know that she loved her family fiercely, just as we loved her. She will be missed.

Here is the last picture we have with her on New Years Day, 2011.

We did get to see her again when we visited Baker City over the 4th of July. I am so happy that she got to meet Roxy, and visit with Lincoln and June again. I know that she really really enjoyed visiting with her great grandkids, even when they were whining and being noisy. She was always such a sweetheart. :)

The World Remembers

On this day, ten years ago, we sustained the largest terrorist attack America has ever seen.

We remember those who were lost. The heroes and civilians. The mothers, fathers, friends, siblings, children, bosses and co-workers who died that day. And we grieve with, and comfort those who were left behind missing their loved ones.

We also reflect on how the world has changed over the past decade. The soldiers and troops who have fought in the intervening days, and the sacrifices they have made to beat back fear.

Those of us who remain, rejoice as we continue to celebrate this hard won freedom.

Less Than Two Weeks

Less than two weeks into the school year, and Lincoln brought home his first cold. Joy. These pre-schoolers are germ factories! This cold brought us all low throughout the holiday weekend. Good thing we didn't have anything adventuresome planned for the long weekend, instead just a lazy weekend at home was just the ticket to getting well again.

I am hoping that we get a little break from the next cold, that I am certain will be coming. And I hope that we get our immunities built up quickly!

Late Night

This is what happens when you are on your way home from IKEA past the kids' bedtime. Meltdown. If you listen closely you can hear all three kids contributing to the pandemonium.
