New Stats & Appt Updates

Cora had her 1 month weight check today. She is now up to 8lbs 10oz & 21 inches tall. She has jumped from the 25% to the 40% for weight! Yay! Go Momma's milk!! :)

Roxy had her 18 month well-baby check up today. She is now 24lbs 2oz & 33 inches tall. They actually measured her at 32 inches tall, but that was an inch shorter than her last measurement...so we are assuming that this one today was inaccurate. The pedi & I discussed Roxy's language delay. I said I would talk to Lincoln's speech therapist about it, but that we would continue to monitor her & really consider doing more if things haven't improved by 2yrs. Both the pedi & I feel that Roxy is understanding language, she just lets others (June) talk for her.

Lincoln's rescheduled neuro appointment yesterday. They measured him at 41lbs (a gain of 2.5lbs in the past 4mo) & 42in (a growth of 1.5in in the past 4mo)! Go big boy!! I guess the recent calorie increase in his diet has really helped! We discussed starting Lincoln on a new medication that has been known to shrink the SEGA in his brain. Dr. T recommends this med only if the SEGA is larger than 10mm & has shown to be increasing in size. His July MRI indicated that the SEGA has grown 2mm since his first MRI & is now 11mm in size. There are other benefits indicated, like an increase in cognitive ability & possible aid to seizure control. Unfortunately, nothing is too good to be true. There are several side effects as well. A decrease in immune function, causing an increase in likelihood of non-infectious pneumonia & also mouth lesions. Typically these side-effects are minor in nature, but occasionally can be more severe requiring hospitalization. We are going to meet with the founder of the study on this medication, a neuro geneticist in Phx. on Oct 19, for a consult. We will see if he thinks this medication would be a good fit for Lincoln & also get his opinion on Lincoln's care going forward. Andy is getting Lincoln's baseline blood work done this afternoon & also requesting Lincoln's MRI & EEG records from TMC so that we can take them with us on this consult.
